Eugene Y. Wang, OD
Dr. Wang is one of the first optometrists to join the Global Laser Vision
team. His introduction to optometry started at the early age of seven when he was
prescribed his first pair of glasses by his hometown optometrist, Dr. Steven
Smith. Dr. Wang became familiar with the profession of optometry through
his annual eye examinations and meetings with Dr. Smith. "It was Dr. Smith's
pleasant personality and caring approach that motivated me to become an
optometrist."
Dr. Wang attended the University of Tennessee, earning his bachelor of
science degree in mechanical engineering. He continued his formal studies
at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia, earning his doctorate
degree. While in optometry school, he gained a specialized knowledge base
in many facets of the optometry field including: primary care, low-vision,
contact lenses, pediatrics, and binocular vision training.
His interest in refractive surgery was initiated from his externship
experience while training at the Atlanta Eye Surgery Group. He gained
specialized training from two corneal/refractive surgeons in the area of
co-management of anterior segment pathology and surgeries including
cataracts, corneal transplants, and various refractive surgeries including:
RK, PRK, and LASIK.
In his free time, Dr. Wang enjoys spending time outdoors actively exploring
the San Diego area beaches and golf courses. He believes in having a
healthy mind and body and can often be found working out at the gym. He has a broad
range of musical interests ranging from classical and pop to good old
fashioned rock n roll.
